Abandoned Barn at Crested Butte

After driving by this barn a few times going to Crested Butte, I knew that I had to paint it. I utilized composition and color to make this abandoned barn the focal point. The fine detail allows viewers to visually hike past the barn, through the trees and up into the mountain.  The mountain ridge was amended to be a bit more dramatic in scale than the real world scene, but the barn needed no help in being wonderful, just as time and decay have made it.  If you are local to or a visitor to the Crested Butte area, I am sure you may recognize the barn.
