Anthracite Range

Painted outdoors on location during a cold winter afternoon. I drive by this range almost everyday so it was only a matter of time before it became my subject for a plein air. I loved the beautiful blue winter sky behind the massive towering Anthracite range. Luckily this was a smaller painting because I forgot my gloves at home and my fingers almost froze off. This painting captures the stunning landscape of the Anthracite Range, with its deep grays, blues and purples.
