Gloomy Day Blue Mesa

This painting is both plein air and a studio piece. I painted this windy river that feeds into the Blue Mesa in the morning hours, however I had to stop due to a sudden snow storm and finish the painting back in my studio. I was drawn to the rock formations and gloomy atmosphere in this scene.
